Wuerffel Trophy
The watch list for Wuerffel Trophy is a long one.
On Thursday, 106 players were named to the watch list, including Auburn’s Derrick Brown.
The trophy also is known as “College Football’s Premier Award for Community Service” and, of course, is named after former Florida QB and Heisman winner Danny Wuerffel.
Brown also was recently nominated for the 2018 Allstate AFCA Good Works Team for his off-the-field contributions.
Here’s what Brown has done according to the university:
"Brown has represented Auburn at the SEC Student-Athlete Leadership Council for football the past two years, and he’s also made SEC Academic Honor Roll both years he’s been on campus while studying in the College of Business. In May, he accompanied a group of his teammates on a mission trip to the Dominican Republic."
The Wuerffel Trophy has been awarded since 2005 and last season, Kentucky’s Courtney Love won it. This year’s winner will be announced at the annual All Sports Association’s Awards Banquet in Fort Walton Beach, Fla.
