Bruce Feldman’s ‘Freaks’

To put it nicely, Auburn football has had it share of freaks over the years.

At least that’s what Bruce Feldman of The Athletic (subscription required) says.

In Feldman’s annual list of college football’s freak athletes, Auburn defensive back Jamel Dean cracked the ranking at No. 10 this year.

Dean joins former Auburn players Braden Smith, Carl Lawson and Sammie Coates as Auburn football players recognize on the list.

Dean is expected to play an even bigger role in 2018, stepping in as the lead cornerback to replace second round NFL draft pick Carlton Davis.

Dean (6-2, 208 pounds) recorded 43 tackles last season and broke up eight passes.
