NFL.com’s fastest players

It’s not easy putting together a list of college football’s fastest players — if you asked the players they’d argue to no end — but NFL.com’s Chase Goodbread did his best in his 18 for 18 series.

And we think he did well.

He placed Darius Slayton on the list at No. 12 and said this about the Auburn wideout:

"The undisputed deep threat in the Tigers’ passing attack has been clocked at 4.35 seconds in the 40-yard dash, and as a high school track star, he clocked a 10.53-second 100-meter time despite a groin pull."

But that wasn’t all.

Goodbread also placed Javaris Davis on the list at No. 6.

"He’s been hand-timed at less than 4.2, but you don’t need to buy into hand-timing legends to recognize Davis as fleet-elite."

That’s impressive to find two Auburn players (with one on either side of the ball) on this list. What’s more impressive is that neither is likely the fastest player on the team.

That recognition goes to incoming receiver (and elite track star) Anthony Schwartz.

Schwartz has a personal-best 10.09 seconds in the 100 meters and 20.47 in the 200. On July 11, he finished second in the 100 at the IAAF World U20 Championships in 10.22 seconds.

Simply put, Schwartz has Olympic speed.

And a future spot on this NFL.com list.
