The Auburn football team opens fall practice Friday and anticipation for the Sept. 1 season opener in Atlanta against Washington is building.

We’ve rattled off reasons to be excited about the upcoming Auburn football season in this space and FlyWarEagle’s Shea Brennaman gave you 43 things to keep busy with until the Week 1 kickoff. But let’s get serious about football.

It’s time. Auburn is coming off a season in which it won the SEC West, contended for a spot in the College Football Playoff until losing in the SEC Championship Game and it’s getting plenty of recognition in the season buildup.

Yes, there are players import — very important — to Auburn’s success in 2018. We’ll get to that as we get closer to the season. But here are five very real reasons you should be excited about what Auburn football brings to the table this season.
