2. Recruiting

Not all news is good news when it comes to Auburn football recruiting. On Monday, 5-star CB Andrew Booth — a player many thought was leaning toward the Tigers — committed to the Clemson Tigers.

Until then, it’s been a nice run of good news for the Auburn coaching staff.

The 2019 class is solid to date. The 2020 class is coming together.

But what should excite Auburn fans most is what the 2019 commitments are doing on the field and as recruiters.

Trending. Auburn's 10 most important offensive players. light

First, there’s Owen Pappoe. As Auburn’s lone 5-star (for now) commitment, he’s doing every possible thing to use it to assist the recruiting effort.

He’s been bold. Real bold.

But that’s OK. And in June, July and August, it’s fun.

He’s already predicted big things, like a top five national class (Auburn is 15th) and he zeroed in on a committed 5-star prospect this weekend.

“We’re going to flip Haselwood,” Pappoe told reporters after Auburn’s recruiting cookout Saturday.

If you’re not familiar, that’s Georgia commitment Jadon Haselwood, a 5-star receiver and nation’s top-rated receiver (although status will be challenged by Auburn commitment George Pickens before the recruiting cycle ends).

Pappoe is a big personality and it will be interesting to see what his recruiting efforts, along with committed QB Bo Nix, do for the Tigers between now and National Signing Day.
