Auburn football: Jarrett Stidham looks ready to break school passing records

Nick Marshall
No one was real sure what Auburn was getting when it signed Nick Marshall to play quarterback after he spent a season at Georgia as a defensive back and then a season in junior college playing quarterback.
What it got was a dynamic dual-threat quarterback who could run it and pass it as well as any quarterback who’s put on the orange and blue outside of Cam Newton.
Of course, the 2013 season was one for the ages as the Tigers went 12-2, beat rivals Georgia and Alabama in one-of-a-kind fashion before losing to FSU in the final minute of the BCS Championship Game.
Here’s a look at his progression in yards per game passing, completions-attempts, completion percentage, TD passes and interceptions:
2013 (14 games): 1,976, 142-239 (59.4), 14, 6
2014 (13): 2,532, 178-293 (60.8), 20, 7
Marshall was a better passer his second season, but his season got off to a rocky start when he was suspended for the first half of the season opener against Arkansas. He struggled throwing it in losses to Mississippi State and Georgia, but had his best yardage game in the Iron Bowl.
In the 55-44 loss to Alabama, Marshall completed 27-of-43 passes for 456 yards, three touchdowns (34, 68, 5) and an interception.
