While the game this season against Mark Richt’s Hurricanes is a must-see matchup, the marquee wins on the future LSU schedule are the 2019 and 2020 games against Texas. If Texas can regain its mystique after a decade-long run of mediocrity, those two games could be fantastic.

And while it’s another 10 years away, getting the Sooners on the schedule is a scheduling victory for LSU and the SEC

Future non-conference opponents

2018: Miami (Fla.), Southeast Louisiana, Louisiana Tech, Rice

2019: Georgia Southern, at Texas, Northwestern State, Utah State

2020: UTSA, Texas, at Rice, Nicholls

2021: at UCLA, McNeese State, Central Michigan, Louisiana-Monroe

2022: New Mexico

2024: UCLA, Rice, South Alabama

2027: at Oklahoma

2028: Oklahoma

2029: Arizona State

2030: at Arizona State

FlyWarEagle analysis: The Tigers open this season against Miami, have home-and-home series with Texas, UCLA and Oklahoma — that’s good stuff. While LSU hasn’t reached double figure wins the last four seasons, fans expect the Tigers to compete for SEC championships and a spot in the College Football Playoff. The non-conference schedule is ambitious. Grade: A
