Jarrett Stidham

Jarrett Stidham is the quarterback and being the quarterback of an SEC team that is coming off an SEC West title and that should begin the season ranked somewhere within the top 10 of the AP Top 25. With that power comes (ahem) great responsibility.

Stidham recognizes that and, to his credit, blocks out all that noise. At least that’s what he says. He’s mentioned as a potential first round pick in the 2019 NFL Draft. He’s listed among the preseason Heisman favorites. He’s on multiple preseason watch lists. He’s a marked man.

Last season he threw for 3,158 yards, the second-highest total in Auburn football history. He added 18 TD passes with just six interceptions. He’ll be expected to do more this season.

Best-case scenario: Stidham gets out of the gates in style and hits the 300-yard mark against Washington after struggling in Auburn’s first two games in his first season with the Tigers in 2017. That momentum carries him throughout the season and he not only beats Dameyune Craig’s single-season passing yards record, he blows past it and approaches 4,000 passing yards. He also throws for at least 25 touchdowns and coupled with Auburn’s success on the field, is a Heisman finalist and potentially brings home Auburn’s fourth Heisman Trophy.
