Game 1 against Washington is just more than one week away for the Auburn football team and as we enter the weekend, there are things you need to know.

The Auburn football coaches are in full-preparation mode for the sixth-ranked Huskies. No. 9 Auburn heads to Atlanta next Saturday, Sept. 1, for a 3:30 p.m. meeting against Washington at Mercedes-Benz Stadium.

Those are among the things we’ll update you on as we close in on the marquee game of Week 1: Auburn vs. Washington. The winner makes an immediate statement about its standing among the nation’s elite teams. The loser might not take much of a step back if it’s a close game like most people expect.

Most eyes will focus on the quarterback matchup between Jarrett Stidham and Jake Browning. Stidham is coming off a 3,158-yard passing season with 18 touchdown passes. Browing returned for his senior season after starting his first three in Seattle. He’s thrown for 9,104 yards, 78 TD passes, 24 interceptions while completing 64.4 percent of his career passes.
