Recruiting momentum

It’s always a good thing when good things happen with recruiting before the season starts.

Get kids committed, then they turn into recruiters and you get targets on campus for gameday, win games and create a great atmosphere and things only get better.

That’s the formula Auburn is looking to cash in on this season because things have been going well:

  • Three players were bumped from 4-star status to 5-star ratings by Rivals.com. LB Owen Pappoe, WR George Pickens and QB Bo Nix were awarded their 5-star ranking earlier in August and that was well overdue.
  • Auburn picked up three commitments within the last month for the 2019 class and two for the 2020 class.
  • The Auburn 2019 recruiting class has risen from 16th to No. 8 in the 247Sports Composite Team Rankings.
  • The Tigers flipped athlete Cam’Ron Kelly from Virginia Tech for their latest commitment and have made a strong push for other committed players.
  • Auburn’s last three recruiting classes finished ranked 12th, ninth and ninth. With a strong push, this one could rise to top-five status.

Malzahn has put together a solid coaching staff that also recruits well. Winning big games this fall will go a long way to elevating recruiting to another level.
