Auburn football: What sort of offensive performance should we expect from Gus’ Tigers?

Clemson 19, Auburn 13

Head coach: Gus Malzahn
Auburn final record: 8-5
Points per game: 31.2
National ranking: 49th out of 128 teams

Auburn managed just 262 total yards against a very good Clemson defense. It didn’t help that Auburn turned the ball over three times. But it was another slow start for the Tigers and one of the oddest (and ugliest) performances from an Auburn offense. Remember 3-2 over Mississippi State? This wasn’t much prettier.

Auburn used a rotation at quarterback with Sean White, Jeremy Johnson and backs Kerryon Johnson and Chandler Cox taking snaps that seemed to confuse Auburn (and its fans) more than Clemson.

Four of Auburn’s first-half drives ended in punts. The other, a 12-play, 44-yard drive led to a field goal. But when the half ended, Auburn had a grand total of 23 offensive yards on 24 plays. Yeah, that’s gross.

If you’d effectively scrubbed this performance from your brains and we just forced you to relive it, please accept our deepest apologies.
