4. Daniel Thomas

You can make an argument for Daniel Thomas being higher on this list. We debated him more than any other player.

Because he simply is getting after it this season.

He’s jumping routes — he had a pick-six vs. Alabama State — has two interceptions this season and nearly scored on a fumble return against Arkansas. When Thomas sees the ball, he goes and gets it. He has that extra pep in his step this season and that’s a good thing.

There were some doubts about Thomas entering the season. Would one of the freshmen safeties overtake him or would Thomas look more like the player who picked off two passes in the Iron Bowl as a freshman?

He’s been the safety coaches were hoping to see.

He’s tied for third on the team with 18 tackles and is two interceptions lead the way.

Thomas is playing with a sense of urgency and the Tigers need more of that all over the field.
