The Tigers just got a commitment from three-star TE Landen King and the team has signed four other tight ends in the last two recruiting class so it’s clear that Gus Malzahn is committed to using the tight end more than he has in the past.

The addition of offensive coordinator Chad Morris also reiterates that as Morris has coached NFL tight ends such as Dwayne Allen and Charles Clay.

Even with the young talent already on the Tigers roster at tight end, Morris and co. are still going hard after four-star TE Michael Trigg.

Trigg, who already has solid size at 6-foot-4 and 230 pounds, is 247Sports’ third-ranked tight end in the nation and Auburn and Florida State are seen as the leaders for the Tampa, Florida native.

Trigg is also a big-time basketball player and has wide-receiver skills on the football field. Auburn should always be looking for big, athletic targets for Bo Nix and whoever is next in line at quarterback and that’s what Trigg can be.

Trigg cut his list of schools down to 10 earlier in the month and the tight end took an unofficial visit to The Plains in March.
