How will the Tigers stack up when Auburn has its first real test of 2020 football season against North Carolina.

After finishing the 2019 season with a disappointing loss to Minnesota in the Outback Bowl, Auburn football fans are expecting the Tigers to start the 2020 season off strong. And while Auburn has the talent to compete for an SEC title next year, they could very well have their hands full in week two.

After opening the season up against FCS opponent Alcorn State, the Tigers will face the North Carolina Tarheels at the neutral Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta — a stadium that Auburn is more than familiar with.

In 2018, the Tarheels finished 2-9 and then the team brought in former Texas head coach Mack Brown to revitalize the program.

Brown’s rebuild got off to a good start as the Tarheels finished the 2019 season with a 7-6 record — their first winning season since 2016.

UNC brings back much of the talent from last season and is considered a preseason top 25 team by many experts that could very well be a sneaky contender in the ACC.

Nonetheless, the team certainly has its strengths and weakness and doing a position-by-position breakdown of Auburn’s week two opponent will help shine some light on them.
