While the Rebels may be lacking talent on the defensive line, the same cannot be said about the team’s linebackers. JUCO transfer Sam Williams immediately came into Oxford and made a huge impact last season.

The 6-foot-3, 251 pass rusher led the team with six sacks in 2019 while also adding 38 tackles and 9.5 TFLs.

Coming into the 2019 season, MoMo Sanogo was supposed to be an All-SEC caliber player following a stellar 2018 campaign. Unfortunately, an ankle injury forced Sanogo to miss nearly the whole season. Sanogo should be back in 2020 and could be one of the SEC’s best at the position.

The team is also returning their two leading tacklers from last season. Lakia Henry was yet another electric JUCO transfer who recorded 87 tackles and 3.5 TFLs in his first season in Oxford. Additionally, junior Jacquez Jones was second on the team with 71 tackles last season and should be another impact guy.
