Auburn basketball: How recent Tigers fared in the pros
The aforementioned top-20 pick, Okeke was selected 16th overall by the Orlando Magic in the 2019 NBA Draft following a stellar sophomore season for the Tigers.
Okeke saw his NBA draft stock rise significantly during the end of the 2018-19 season and during the Tigers’ March Madness run. Unfortunately, the 6-foot-8, 230-pound forward suffered a torn ACL during Auburn’s Sweet Sixteen win against UNC.
As a result, Okeke has spent this past year rehabbing the injury, primarily with the Lakeland Magic — the Magic’s G-League affiliate.
Prior to the season being postponed in March, Okeke gave the following update to Greg Ostendorf of AuburnTigers.com
"“Before the lockdown, I was shooting in the gym and I felt pretty good shooting, getting off the floor,” Okeke said. “I was going through drills somewhat full speed. It felt good. I don’t know what percent I’m at right now because it’s been a while since I’ve even shot a ball. I’ve just been working out and conditioning.”"
Depending on how the NBA season schedule unfolds, Okeke should be ready to go for Orlando next season and will be a part of a young and talented core for the team.
