Auburn football: Fantasy football impact for former Tigers
One of fantasy football’s biggest surprises last season was the emergence of rookie Darius Slayton as the top receiver for the New York Giants. An absolute steal in the fifth-round, Slayton took advantage of a depleted Giants WR corps and showed excellent chemistry with rookie quarterback Daniel Jones.
Slayton ranked fifth among all rookies with 740 receiving yards last season and second in touchdowns with eight.
New York didn’t draft a receiver in this year’s draft which shows they have confidence in Slayton being their top guy (at least for now). The Giants did upgrade their offensive line and superstar running back Saquon Barkley should be back to full strength in 2020.
With a receiving core of Slayton, Golden Tate, Sterling Shepard and tight end Evan Engram, Slayton could be in line for a 1,000-yard season.
Slayton should get plenty of volume and I expect a strong second season for Jones which in turn, will help Slayton become a reliable WR2 in the fantasy world.
