Since going undrafted in 2016, former Auburn running back Peyton Barber has carved himself out a nice NFL career so far.

Barber spent the 2018 season as the starter for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers where he recorded 936 yards and six touchdowns. With the slight emergence of Ronald Jones for the Bucs in 2019, Barber saw his impact decrease in 2019.

This offseason, Barber signed with the Washington Redskins. And while the Redskins are certainly looking for a true workhorse back, I’m not in love with Barber’s fantasy potential in a crowded Washington backfield.

Veteran Adrian Peterson was the team’s lead back last season and AP proved he still has enough left in the tank to be a solid RB in the NFL. Behind him, Redskins fans have been waiting for often-injured running back Derrius Guice’s breakout season since they drafted him in the second round in 2018.

Washington also has former Stanford star Bryce Love entering his second season and spent a 2020 fourth-round pick on Memphis WR/RB Antonio Gibson.

The Redskins weren’t a great rushing team last season so the opportunity is there for Barber to make an impact but with all the depth the team as, I’m not sure he’ll get enough carries to warrant more than a late-round pick in your fantasy draft.
