Auburn football: Fantasy football impact for former Tigers
The SEC’s all-time leading scorer has had a roller coaster of a career just two seasons in. After being drafted in the fifth round by the Minnesota Vikings in 2018, Carlson was cut in week two after missing three field goals in a single game.
The Oakland Raiders gave Carlson a second chance and he turned that into the most accurate season in Raiders history going 16 for 17 in 10 games with the Raiders.
Carlson took a bit of a step back last season making 19 of his 26 field goals. Known for his strong leg while at Auburn, Carlson went 6-12 on his field goals from over 40 yards last season.
2020 will give Carlson a chance to bounce back. The Raiders have brought in some offensive weapons that should improve the scoring output of the team. More scoring obviously means more extra points for Carlson.
At the same time, I don’t think the Raiders will have a top offense in the NFL which means they can move the ball down the field but not necessarily get in the end zone. This should give the former Auburn star plenty of opportunities to get back to his 2018 form.
While Carlson is unlikely to be one of the first kickers chosen in your draft, he could be a major steal should you decide to wait past the first wave of kickers like Justin Tucker and Harrison Butker.
