There really was no question as to who would be number one on this list. One of the most well-known JUCO success stories in football history, Newton has become the poster child of the potential of junior college recruiting.

A big-time prospect coming out of high school, Newton played his first two seasons with the University of Florida backing up Heisman quarterback Tim Tebow. An altercation involving a fellow teammate and a laptop led to Newton choosing to transfer to Blin College in Texas rather than possibly being expelled. After dominating there, Newton came to Auburn and did the exact same thing. Although he only spent one season with the Tigers, it is arguably the best single-season in program history.

At 6-foot-5 and 250 pounds with elite athleticism and strength for the quarterback position, Newton was an enigma and opposing teams were hopeless in trying to stop him.

Newton threw for 2,854 yards and 30 touchdowns and rushed for 1,473 yards and 20 additional TDs (and even added a receiving touchdown for good measure) during his one season with the Tigers while leading the team to an undefeated season and their first national championship since 1957.

Newton absolutely ran away with the Heisman trophy in 2010 and was the first selection of the 2011 NFL Draft. Although he is currently without a job, Newton has been named a Pro Bowler three times during his career and was named league MVP in 2015.
