Auburn has staked its dominance over the Pac-12 in recent years going 2-0 against Washington and Oregon to start the 2018 and 2019 seasons respectively. And if the Tigers are already going to travel to California to play UCLA and Cal, they might as well play the best team in the state as well.

USC is one of the most historically successful and well-known football programs in the country and while they are no longer the perennial contenders they were in the early 2000s, they are still a good program.

Of course, who knows what the Trojans will look like by the time these two teams match up but the name recognition alone is enough for this to be a marquee matchup.

It hasn’t been too long since these teams had a home-and-home as they matched up in 2002 and 2003. The Trojans won both of those matchups while Auburn won their one previous matchup in 1987.

A future home-and-home would allow Auburn to get revenge for the losses in the early 2000s and would bring in college football’s most famous programs to Jordan-Hare Stadium.
