Auburn’s points per game leader in 2020: Devan Cambridge

Auburn’s leading returning scorer is rising sophomore Devan Cambridge. However, that bar wasn’t set very high as Cambridge only put up 4.2 points per game in 13.2 minutes a contest as a true freshman.

At the same time, Cambridge came to The Plains as a three-star prospect according to 247Sports and was one of the Tigers’ biggest surprises of the season.

While he absolutely struggled with consistency last season, the 6-foot-6 wing absolutely showed the ability to score at a high level. In a January game against South Carolina, Cambridge exploded for 26 points in only 21 minutes off the bench.

Cambridge shot 10-14 from the field, 6-9 from downtown and also added five rebounds. I’m not expecting Auburn to have a 20-point per game scorer in 2020 and I was very tempted to put five-star freshman Sharife Cooper here but Cambridge’s strong shooting stroke and elite athleticism should help him make a big jump next season.

I think Cambridge could put up 13-15 points per game for a very balanced Auburn roster with no established scoring option.
