Auburn’s assists per game leader in 2020: Sharife Cooper

A former high school teammate of Isaac Okoro, Cooper has the talent to be a one-and-done player despite coming at just six feet tall and 160 pounds.

Cooper is a McDonalds All-American and is ranked as the 23rd overall player in 247Sports’ composite rankings making him the best recruit in Auburn history. After a junior season where he led McEachern to a 32-0 record and filled the stat sheet with 27.2 points, 8.1 assists,5.6 rebounds and 4.3 steals, Cooper was named Georgia’s Gatorade Player of the Year.

Cooper could very well be Auburn’s best player in 2020 and part of the reason for that is his instincts in the passing game.

Former four-star recruit Tyrell Jones will be Cooper’s main competition for point guard minutes but after a disappointing 2019 season, I expect Cooper to establish himself as the team’s leader early on.

I think it’s fair to expect around four to five assists per game from the highly touted freshman point guard.
