Auburn’s week four opponent could give them more trouble than most fans expect.

After starting conference play against Ole Miss in Oxford, the Auburn Tigers will return home to Jordan-Hare Stadium to face off against the Southern Miss Golden Eagles. While many fans will look past this game as a matchup against an inferior opponent, the Golden Eagles proved they can come in and give the Tigers fits as they did in 2018.

That year, Aubrun narrowly escaped with a 24-13 win as the Tigers seemingly slept walked throughout the game. That Southern Miss team only won six games, last year’s iteration won seven.

While Auburn will out-talent their opponent at pretty much every position, this certainly isn’t a game that the Tigers can just forget about. The Golden Eagles are expected to be contenders in the C-USA this year and just like in 2018, could sneak up on Auburn if they’re not careful.

The next couple of slides will breakdown each position group for Auburn’s week four opponent as well as their strengths and weaknesses.
