Easily one of the most highly touted recruits in Auburn history, Michael Dyer was the nation’s top running back prospect and was a top-10 recruit overall.

Dyer was ranked ahead of several future NFL stars and after helping lead the Tigers to a national championship as a true freshman, it looked like Dyer could be the best of the bunch.

After recording over 1,000 yards and six touchdowns as a freshman, Dyer followed that up with 1,242 yards and 10 touchdowns. Dyer was expected to be a star and so far, he was exactly that.

However, off-the-field issues led to Dyer suspension from the team and the former five-star back would transfer to Arkansas State. Arrested another time, Dyer was kicked off the team at Arkansas State.

Dyer would then spend a year at Arkansas Baptist not playing football before finally choosing Louisville for his final collegiate destination. The former Tiger was primarily a backup for the Cardinals.

After brief stints in the NFL and the CFL, Dyer has spent the past few seasons with the Texas Revolution of the Indoor Football League. Considering his ranking as a recruit and fast start at Auburn, Dyer could have been one of the best RBs in program history but instead, is an example of wasted potential.
