Auburn football: Ranking every five-star recruit in program history
Jason Campbell probably had the best single-season on this list. In 2004, Campbell accounted for 23 touchdowns while leading the Tigers to an undefeated season and finished seventh in the Heisman race that year.
But way back in 2000, Campbell was an elite QB prospect from Taylorsville, Mississippi who stood at an impressive 6-foot-5 and 235 pounds. Campbell was seen as the nation’s 33rd best recruit and fifth-best quarterback and to be honest, at first, it seemed like the five-star prospect was going to be a bit of a bust.
In his first three seasons on the Plains, Campbell was never more than an average starting quarterback and as a junior in ’03, he tallied just 11 total touchdowns and eight interceptions in 13 total games.
His senior season definitely saved his legacy and now he is known as one of the best quarterbacks in Tigers history.
Campbell would go on to be a first-round selection in the 2005 NFL Draft and went on to play nearly a decade in the league for five different teams.
