Auburn football: Ranking every five-star recruit in program history
LeMarcus Rowell was a five-star outside linebacker prospect in the class of 2001 out of nearby Opelika high school. Academic problems forced the nation’s No. 39 prospect to sit out his true freshman season.
Rowell would get past his academic eligibility issues the next season and he made a decent impact recorded 20 total tackles on the season. Unfortunately, the promising linebacker couldn’t stay out of trouble and he was arrested on multiple charges in the summer of 2003.
Rowell was dismissed from the team in July of that year and transfered to JUCO with the intent of once again playing for the Tigers. However, after a brief stint, Rowell would decide to attend Jacksonville State.
After his career there, the local product would play a few seasons in the CFL.
