Auburn could be on the verge of adding their first cornerback prospect of the 2021 cycle.

2021 defensive back prospect Kamari Lassiter is believed to be one of Auburn football’s top three or four DB prospects in the class. Gus Malzahn and his staff received good news on Wednesday when the three-star cornerback tweeted out a list of his top six schools.

Lassiter’s top six includes three other SEC schools in LSU, Alabama and Georgia as well as Florida State and Georgia Tech from the ACC.

Lassiter enjoyed a successful season at American high school in Tuscaloosa and helped the Patriots earn a perfect 9-0 record on the season. On the season, Lassiter made 29 tackles and recorded four interceptions. The cornerback also made an impact on offense as a wide receiver recording 34 catches for 800 yards and 15 touchdowns.

The 6-foot, 185-pound corner is listed as the No. 25 cornerback prospect in the 2021 class per 247Sports’ Composite rankings and the No. 11 player in Alabama as well as one of the top uncommitted prospects left in the state

Lassiter has already visited The Plains multiple times and has spoken recently on the campus atmosphere and what he likes about Auburn.

"“It’s just the family atmosphere,” the prospect said per Keith Niebuhr of AuburnUndercover.com. “Whenever I stepped on the Auburn campus it was amazing. You could really just feel how everyone was close together. The coaching staff really prides themselves on the players. The players themselves, they love it and they tell me I should come to Auburn. That speaks for itself.”"

Lassiter has stated that he would like to commit to a school prior to the upcoming season so that he can focus on helping his team rather than his recruitment. A commitment from the three-star cornerback would give the Tigers at least two defensive backs in the 2021 class as he would join three-star safety Phillip O’Brien Jr. or three if three-star athlete Tar’varish Dawson is recruited to play DB.
