Auburn football: Tigers offer rising 2022 D-lineman
Auburn has already gotten started preparing for the 2022 recruiting cycle.
Auburn still has some work to do in their 2021 recruiting class as they currently only have 10 players committed. However, that doesn’t mean that Auburn head coach Gus Malzahn and his staff can’t focus on the future.
Despite just finishing his sophomore season at Maumelle high school in Arkansas, 2022 defensive lineman prospect Nicholas “Nico” Davillier has already earned an offer from the Tigers along with several other power 5 schools.
Davillier announced his offer from Auburn via his Twitter and although he is listed as an unranked prospect according to 247Sports but the 6-foot-5, 270-pound defensive lineman has already caught the attention of some major programs.
The rising junior received an offer from the Arkansas Razorbacks this past Thursday and has also received offers from schools like Missouri, Tennessee, Kansas and UGA.
This past season, Davillier helped the Maumelle Hornets make their first playoff appearance since 2014 as they went from a 4-6 team in 2018 to an 8-3 team in 2019.
As a sophomore, Davillier recorded 22 total tackles, four TFLs, two sacks, two QB hurries and a forced fumble. The D-lineman is also a two-sport athlete for Maumelle and plays basketball for the school as well.
With several major programs already showing interest in Davillier, he will certainly fly up the rankings in the next two years. The strongside defensive end already possesses ideal size and could develop into one of the best players in the state of Arkansas by the time he’s ready to commit.
Georgia cornerback Andre Stewart and Florida cornerback Brian Dilworth are currently Auburn’s only two commitments in the 2022 class but that number will surely grow as we progress through the season. The Tigers have already offered some of the best players in the class.
As for the 2021 class, Auburn has yet to sign a defensive end but the class is highlighted by four-star defensive tackle Lee Hunter.
