One of the most intriguing college football recruiting storylines in recent history, Reuben Foster committed to play for Nick Saban and Alabama way back in July of 2011. That commitment would last about a year before Foster switched his commitment from Bama to Auburn.

The 6-foot-1 linebacker had transferred to Auburn high school earlier in his high school career so it seemed like a no-brainer that the Tigers would be able to land Foster from their own backyard.

Seeing as Foster was a top-10 recruit in the entire nation and top linebacker prospect in the class of 2013, Foster’s commitment to Auburn meant a lot for a team that was just coming off a three-win season.

The minds of Auburn fans were eased when Foster went and got an Auburn tattoo on his forearm, seemingly locking up the five-star as a future Tiger.

But, that December that all changed. Foster made the surprise decision to go and decommit once again, shocking Auburn fans across the country. Foster would then go back to Nick Saban and Bama just two months later.

Foster would go on to have a fantastic career for the Crimson Tide. As a senior in 2016, the former Auburn commit recorded 115 tackles, 13 TFLs and five sacks.

He would then go on to be a first-round pick by the San Fransisco 49ers in 2018. His professional career got off to a great start but a variety of off-the-field issues and injuries led to him being released by the Niners after just two seasons and have kept him off the field in recent years.
