Despite his down year in 2019, it’ll be a tough task for anyone to replace one of the best quarterbacks in UGA history in Jake Fromm. Kirby Smart and his staff expect Jamie Newman to be that guy.

Newman, a grad transfer from Wake Forest was highly sought after this offseason and UGA ended up being the winners.

This one is a bit of a wildcard because we haven’t seen what Newman can do at an SEC level yet but if his play at Wake Forest is any indication, he has a good chance to be one of the best QBs in the conference next season.

Last year for the Demon Deacons, Newman completed 60.9 percent of his passes for 2,868 yards, 26 touchdowns and 11 INTs. Newman is also a legitimate dual-threat option and added 574 rushing yards and six TDs to his season total.

At 6-foot-4 and 230 pounds with a strong arm and incredible touch, Newman definitely has the look of a star. Many are very high on Newman and Athlon Sports has the grad transfer on the All-SEC first-team in their preseason predictions for 2020.
