Oh man, the hype for Kiehl Frazier was real. A 6-foot-3, 215-pound dual-threat quarterback from Springdale, Arkansas, Frazier was rated as a top-50 recruit in the nation by ESPN. Frazier was also the second-best dual-threat QB prospect in the country as well as the top player in the state of Arkansas.

So, when Frazier arrived on campus, it was believed that Auburn fans wouldn’t have to wait very long to see another star under center.

Frazier spent his freshman season (2011) as the third-string QB behind junior Barrett Trotter and sophomore Clint Mosley. It was to be expected for such a young quarterback stuck behind more veteran and experienced options. Still, Frazier did have 327 rushing yards and three TDs that season so people were understandably excited.

But, when Trotter graduated, everyone expected Frazier to be next up. And he was. The former four-star recruit won the starting job to start the 2012 season but it wasn’t long before everyone realized Frazier wasn’t the player he was expected to be.

The starter for most of Auburn’s awful 3-9 season, Frazier played in nine games and completed 53,4 percent of his passes for only 753 yards, two touchdowns and eight interceptions. Frazier also recorded an awful -35 rushing yards on the year.

He was benched in favor of Mosley later that season and after 2012, Frazier made an attempt to move to the defensive side of the ball as a safety. When that didn’t work, Frazier would transfer to D-II Ouachita Baptist where he finished his football career.
