Auburn football: Constructing an all-time Auburn offense
Starter: Bo Jackson
Backup: Cadillac Williams
There are SO many options here as Auburn has a fantastic history of dominant college running backs. With that said, no all-time Auburn list is complete without Bo Jackson. Jackson is widely seen as one of, if not the best athlete in sports history and for good reason. The punishing running back had a pretty much unheard of blend of speed, size and power.
Jackson used those skills to take home the Heisman Trophy in 1985 when he rushed for 1,786 yards and 17 TDs on nearly 6.5 yards per carry.
Once again, there were a ton of viable options for the backup running back spot but I wound up going with Carnell “Cadillac” Williams. Playing with the Tigers from 2001 until 2004, Williams is first in Auburn history with 45 rushing touchdowns and second all-time in career rushing yards (3,831.)
Williams’ stats would’ve probably been even higher if he didn’t have to share carries throughout most of his Auburn career but nonetheless, Cadillac is an Auburn legend and helped the team go undefeated in 2004.
Honorable mentions: Tre Mason, James Brooks, Joe Cribbs, Kerryon Johnson
