Auburn football: 5 Wildcats to watch in Week 1
As I mentioned in my position-by-position breakdown of the Wildcats, statistically, Kentucky had the best pass defense in the SEC last season. The team only gave up 167.8 passing yards per game and allowed the fewest passing touchdowns in the SEC with nine.
While I’m not sure if the Wildcats can duplicate that same level of success in 2020, they have the talent to create problems for Auburn.
Yusuf Corker had a big breakout season in 2019 as a sophomore and now, the 6-foot, 198-pound defensive back is looking to build off of that success. A former four-star recruit, Corker led the Wildcats with 74 tackles last season while also putting up four passes defended and two fumble recoveries.
I expect Corker to start at free safety for Kentucky and if Auburn QB Bo Nix doesn’t show improvement in his second season, Corker and the rest of the Wildcats secondary may make him pay.
