Auburn football: Tigers make the final list for 4-star defensive end
The Auburn Tigers have made the cut for one of their top targets in the 2021 class.
It has already been a big month for Auburn football recruiting. In the first three weeks of August alone, the Tigers have received commitments from three players with many more of the team’s top targets set to commit soon.
One of those major targets recently put Auburn in his final four schools as he prepares to take the journey into collegiate athletics. Jeremiah “Scooby” Williams is a four-star weakside defensive linebacker prospect from Ramsay high school in Birmingham and he is seen as one of Auburn’s top targets in the class.
According to 247Sports, Williams is ranked as the No. 54 prospect in the nation and No. 3 player in the state of Alabama while the 247Sports Composite rankings have him at No. 103 nationally and No. 6 at his position.
Either way, the 6-foot-3, 224-pound pass rusher would be a huge get for Gus Malzahn and his staff and Williams would immediately become one of the gems of the Tigers’ 2021 class.
Williams announced his final four schools of Auburn, Georgia, Florida and Oklahoma via his Twitter. Eliminated from the race for the four-star prospect was Alabama and LSU.

In his junior season at Ramsay, Williams was a star for the Rams, helping lead them to a 10-3 record and a quarterfinals appearance in the AHSAA 5A state football playoffs.
Luckily for Auburn, the only crystal ball prediction for Williams is one for Auburn which should give fans some confidence going into his commitment date which is set for January 9 at the annual All-American Bowl which will be played on NBC.
If the Tigers do end up landing Williams, he will join four-star defensive tackles Lee Hunter and Marquis Robinson as well as three-star strongside defensive end Tobechi Okoli as the next D-line prospects on The Plains. Due to Williams’ frame, he will likely be used as a sort of linebacker/D-end hybrid and pass-rush specialist.
In his scouting report from 247Sports Director of Scouting Barton Simmons, Williams is praised as a patient and instinctive player who needs to add mass at the next level. Nonetheless, Simmons predicts the four-star DE as a future Day two selection in the NFL and compares him to Tennessee Titans LB and former Auburn native Rashaan Evans.
Auburn’s 2021 recruiting class has already jumped up several spots in the national rankings this month. The team currently has 13 total commitments that put them at No. 23 in the nation.
This is a fairly slow start for the Tigers but things are starting to pick up. Other than Williams, the Tigers have also made the final lists for several other elite 2021 recruits. Five-star cornerback Ga’Quincy McKinstry is the top CB in the nation and linebacker Smael Mondon Jr. is a top-25 player nationally.
If the Tigers can gain commitments from all three of those players, the Tigers would skyrocket to No. 13 in the current class rankings for 2021.
