Name:

Diego Pounds

High school: Millbrook (Raleigh, NC)

Measurables: 6’6″/305

Rankings: No. 438 ranked recruit, No. 39 OT and No. 26 prospect in the state.

Teams to beat: Penn State, UNC, LSU

Auburn hasn’t signed a prospect out of North Carolina since Nick Coe in 2016. That commitment worked out pretty well for the Tigers so why not go all in on another player from the same state.

Pounds is a big-bodied tackle that has risen up the boards of many programs in the last few months as he has gained over 30 offers since January. Auburn offered the rising senior back in April and has been pursuing him pretty hard ever since.

Pounds’ most recent offer from Mack Brown and the Tarheels could be hard to overcome and the Nittany Lions are generally seen as the favorites to land the offensive tackle.

But, with Gooch now off the table at Auburn, the Tigers may become even more enticing for Pounds if he’s looking for earlier playing time.
