Name: Savion Byrd

High school: Duncanville (Duncanville, TX)

Measurables: 6’5″/265

Rankings: No. 43 overall recruit, No. 6 OT, No. 8 prospect in Texas.

Teams to beat: Oklahoma, SMU, Texas

The Tigers are admittedly, a bit of a long shot to land Byrd. the Texas native seems to be leaning towards the Big 12 or schools in his area. With that said, Byrd cut hist list down to 14 schools back in May and Auburn made the list.

He hasn’t cut his list down officially since then so Auburn seems to be still in the running. At the same time, it doesn’t appear that the Tigers are pursuing the top-50 recruit as hard as they are with both Mims and Pounds.

And while Byrd doesn’t have a 300-plus-pound frame like those two, he does possess an excellent frame and has shown great reflexes and overall quickness. While he would absolutely need to add bulk to be successful at the next level, Byrd is ranked so highly for a reason and he is seen by scouts as a future NFL Draft pick if he can build on his limitless potential.
