Auburn football has quite a tree of alumni currently suiting up in the NFL. The War Eagle ranks every team with a Tiger on how much positive cheering energy to devote to them.
The NFL is a much different beast than the college game…especially during the pandemic. There are no marching bands, student sections, and tailgates–although there aren’t student sections in the Big 10 or the Pac-12 either–at the professional level. That said, being at most NFL stadiums isn’t like watching Auburn football on the Plains at Jordan-Hare Stadium in 2020.
There are still reasons to cheer for teams at the professional level, though. There are Tigers suiting up on Sundays. Some even suit up for the Lions (but not the Bears). More on that later.
Actually, more on that now. The War Eagle has gone ahead and ranked all 20 teams in the NFL that have an Auburn alumnus (or alumni) on their roster:
20. Cleveland Browns
The Cleveland Browns feature just one former Tiger in placekicker Cody Parkey. While Parkey is no slouch, playing in his seventh professional season, he has yet to establish himself on a given team for more than two years.
Those were his first two years in Philadelphia. As a kicker, it’s part of Parkey’s job description to be replaced somewhat impulsively. You can’t cheer too hard for a team with one player who will most certainly be gone next season.
19. Las Vegas Raiders
Featuring the same problem as Cleveland, Las Vegas only has a starting kicker of Auburn lineage. We’re going to give the Raiders the edge via superior locale, though.
Don’t spend too much time at the blackjack tables, Daniel Carlson!
