Auburn tigers news: Despite program woes, Auburn 7th-ranked school in FS250
The Auburn Tigers fanbase shone through in a difficult 2020 by ranking as the 7th highest school in the FanSided 250.
With Auburn football taking multiple losses in a row to knock them out of the College Football Playoff conversation and Auburn basketball self-imposing a postseason ban and having to go without their star 2020 recruit Sharife Cooper for the foreseeable future, the Auburn Tigers fanbase needed some good news.
On Tuesday afternoon, it arrived. Through what has undoubtedly been a difficult year for the school’s two major teams, the fanbase was recognized as the seventh-best in 2020 for anyone in the NCAA in the FanSided 250.
Auburn outranked Memphis–who saw their #2 selected NBA lottery talent James Wiseman get selected to the team that dominated the last half-decade–as well as Oregon–who saw their star quarterback Justin Herbert get selected one choice before Derrick Brown.
Now, it is true that the Auburn Tigers are ranked below both the Clemson Tigers and LSU Tigers. They are ranked ahead of Tiger Woods, though (who of course, is unranked).
There were many proud moments for the Auburn fanbase in 2020, with Isaac Okoro getting drafted #5 in the NBA Draft being the crowning moment. Of course, there was no climax to the 2020 NCAA basketball season, so the men’s and women’s basketball team haven’t been able to go on a cinderella run in March.
Speaking of women’s hoops, Unique Thompson has been doing unique things on the hardwood at the start of this pandemic-affected NCAA women’s basketball season. She recently had a 26 point-23 rebound performance, the best performance of the millennium for an Auburn Tiger.
The Auburn men’s baseball team had things figured out in the 2020 season besides UCF (with men’s basketball also falling to the Knights) and Gus Malzahn’s squad did blow out the defending national champions…whether or not LSU is a historically weak defending champion or not.
There was plenty to be down about, but even through the hardship, the Auburn Tigers fanbase was still honored as one of the top fanbases in college sports.
War Eagle!
