Leave it to ‘Bama to not take the holiday off from the greatest interstate rivalry in sports and steal away Auburn football recruit Jaedoen Roberts on Christmas Day.

Nothing is sacred to Nick Saban and the Alabama Crimson Tide. Whether it be sketchy ties to foreign entities or using Christmas day to steal Jaedon Roberts away from the Auburn football 2021 signing class, ‘Bama is badly behaving in Plain(s’) sight.

Now, granted, grabbing a downright frightening 6-foot-5, 340-pound behemoth of a human being from the great football state of Texas is something you should do whether or not it hurts your rival’s feelings.

It’s only bad behavior because it hurts so badly.

Things have been upside down this whole year in college football, with the season starting in late October for the B1G 10 and even later for the Pac-12. In Auburn, it’s been even more of a topsy turvy whirlwind of a year…particularly since the loss to Will Muschamp’s South Carolina Gamecocks.

Sidenote: congrats on the (likely) defensive coordinator role, Mr. Muschamp.

Anyway, the Tigers’ offensive woes this season were the impetus for an unsuccessful season that Gus Malzahn incorrectly called a “solid” one–which led to a failed Kevin Steele mutiny and a coaching search that has brought Bryan Harsin to the Plains as the new head coach.

It would have been nice to address some of those with Roberts, who as Matt Zenitz of al.com states, is a high school teammate of Alabama freshman offensive lineman Damieon George. The Texan terror ranked as the 14th-best offensive guard in this recruiting cycle according to the 247Sports Composite rankings.

With future Auburn signal-caller Dematrius Davis also from the Lone Star State, seeing Auburn’s prized quarterback being protected by one of the scariest high school seniors in the world today would have been storybook.

Instead, Roberts is now another symbol of the Iron Bowl rivalry.

See you at Jordan-Hare next Fall, Mr. Roberts. The War Eagle wishes you were with the good guys, but at least you’ll get to experience the Plains in all its glory…and according to Dr. Anthony Fauci, it could be a packed house for your first Iron Bowl.
