The coaching staff for Bryan Harsin and Auburn football is set to add new names in the coming weeks after conducting informal interviews. Brad Bedell could be an option as an OL coach.
Sunday was the official start of the Bryan Harsin era of Auburn football, with the team conducting informal interviews to begin filling out his support staff for the 2021 season:
That means that Friday was the official end of the Gus Malzahn era, with his top assistant and eventual Brutus-like figure Kevin Steele failing to inspire the Tigers to win one for the very man he aimed to usurp as the interim head coach for the Citrus Bowl.
With the disappointing and frustrating non-New Year’s Six bowl game in the rearview mirror, the focus is now on 2021. We knew coming in that Harsin was a Boise State man through and through, having spent 14 years of his life playing and coaching for the Broncos football program.
Now we know that he may add one of his longtime assistants in Brad Bedell, a former NFL offensive linemen and OL coach under Harsin in Idaho’s capital city, according to Jake “Jboy” Crain:
Bedell, as Crain points out, has proven himself as a leader of men. Having multiple offensive linemen get all-conference recognition is an amazing feat and having two guys named to the All-Mountain West Football First Team (Ezra Cleveland, Jr., John Molchon) is a sign that Bedell’s professional experience garners the former Colorado Buffalo respect from the men he is assigned to make great.
Familiarity will help Auburn football compete in 2021 after the team had a down year in the recruitment process in 2020. Bedell would bring an air of comfort to the Tigers in year one of the Harsin era, and he would bring a decorated resume as well.
