Alabama wide receiver DeVonta Smith won the Heisman trophy, and as always Auburn football fans took the high road–something not always expected out of Tide fans.

Auburn football finished 6-5, had Gus Malzahn verbally fumble his way out of the Plains and ended their season with a lethargic performance on New Year’s Day in the Citrus Bowl against Northwestern live from Camping World Stadium in Orlando, Florida.

2021 ended the same way 2020 ended for the Tigers…and for their Tuscaloosa counterparts, who had wide receiver DeVonta Smith win a Heisman trophy less than a week before they head to the National Championship game against a game Ohio State University Buckeyes team that may or may not have played an alarmingly low amount of contests in the B1G 10…and could be considered a somewhat weak entrant in the College Football Playoff, to begin with.

If that isn’t enough Alabama exceptionalism for one night, just remember that Mac Jones was also part of the top four candidates that virtually represented their schools on Tuesday night. Still haven’t heard enough? Try Najee Harris being the last man excluded from the virtual festivities.

The only thing Fly War Eagle really has on ‘Bama this season is that so few people will actually see them likely raise a championship trophy for the first time since *gasp* 2018.

You’d think that Tigers fans would be as bitter and cynical as I am towards the Tide…but remember that the high road leads to the Plains in Alabama (the low road goes right to the 205):

By my count, that’s pure class from Auburn Einstein and Shea, light-hearted ribbing from Michelle Bush, and a self-aware cry for help from Allie Davison.

Nothing but manners and respect from Tigers fans.

It’s a War Eagle thing I guess.
