Bryan Harsin is adding a former member of his Boise State Broncos staff to his Auburn football staff with the hiring of Jeff Pitman.

Boise State Twitter had a fun time with me today about adding a former Broncos coach to new Auburn football coach Bryan Harsin’s support staff.

Just not the one that was actually hired.

In one of the more unsung hirings that an athletic director makes, Jeff Pitman has become the new strength and conditioning coach of the Tigers:

The Plains predicts Pitman will help the already freakish athletes donning the orange and blue every Saturday get stronger, although, like last year, it will be a strange offseason…unless the COVID-19 vaccine rollout is as smooth as we all hope it will be.

Of course, rumors of Harsin adding his former offensive line coach from Boise State, Brad Bedell, were circulating yesterday:

"[Harsin] may add one of his longtime assistants in Brad Bedell, a former NFL offensive linemen and OL coach under Harsin in Idaho’s capital city, according to Jake “Jboy” Crain:Bedell, as Crain points out, has proven himself as a leader of men. Having multiple offensive linemen get all-conference recognition is an amazing feat and having two guys named to the All-Mountain West Football First Team (Ezra Cleveland, Jr., John Molchon) is a sign that Bedell’s professional experience garners the former Colorado Buffalo respect from the men he is assigned to make great."

While Bedell has not been hired–or even let go from Boise State, yet–the connection to Harsin is obvious. Then again, if Boise State Twitter is to be believed (Fly War Eagle is a Broncos fan on Mountain West weekdays and Saturday late nights) Bedell might not be the correct man for the job.

Let’s hope Pitman is. War Eagle!
