Auburn football has made plenty of new hires, but Bryan Harsin could be looking to retain some Gus Malzahn holdovers. That could include Cadillac Williams.

The Auburn football newswire has been a wild ride these past few days. My fingers are on fire, and my mind is filled with visions of what a Bryan Harsin-coached Tigers team will look like come Fall 2021.

Today, that vision became more clear, as a slew of hires has helped shape the support staff for the former Boise State head coach.

Speaking of the orange and blue Broncos of Boise, several former Idahoans will be making their way to the Plains. Jeff Pitman was the first hire. Spencer Danielson was soon to follow. Jeff Schmedding was the final hire from Harsin’s days on the Blue Turf at Albertsons Stadium…for now.

The offensive and defensive coordinators were also named, with Derek Mason of Vanderbilt head coaching fame (or infamy) manning the defensive duties while Mike Bobo of the University of South Carolina Gamecocks makes his way to restructure the team’s stagnant offensive attack.

Bobo brings Will Friend with him to run the offensive line after Friend left the University of Tennessee to defect to Columbia…for a span of two weeks officially.

All of the new faces are great, but Fly War Eagle would like to see some of last year’s coaches be retained.

Travis Williams, a friend of FWE, could be retained to be the defensive backs coach, and we would like nothing more than to see that.

Meanwhile, on the offensive end, Cadillac Williams could be retained to continue working with the running backs:

As has been explained countless times, ex-Tigers that have given thousands of fans a reason to drive to S Donahue Drive to pack Jordan-Hare Stadium are always held in high regard by FWE.

Let’s hope the Cadillac is still making that drive next season.
