The Derek Mason hire has grown on Fly War Eagle like moss on a rock in Seattle. Even former Georgia Bulldog great David Pollack loves Auburn football’s new DC.

Today started off on such a high note because Auburn football defensive coordinator Derek Mason is a man of strong principles and spiritual soundness.

After news broke of his hiring as the new DC for the Tigers–replacing disgraced defensive coordinator and public enemy #1 on the Plains, Kevin Steele–fans around the SEC were excited for Auburn for such a slam dunk hire:

I was once skeptical of Mason because of how poor the Commodores have been under his watch, but then I remembered that Nashville isn’t a football city.

Mason is where he belongs in Auburn, as a man with an iron will to make his players better on and off the field.

Former Georgia Bulldogs star, NFL linebacker, and current analyst of College Gameday David Pollack even agreed:

Now, Pollack isn’t perfect. He has said some inflammatory and unintelligent comments in the past regarding the College Football Playoff selection committee…but he did say something smart yesterday.

Mason brings a much-needed ability to recruit and inspire. For too long, Auburn football leadership has not dared to take chances, well besides making attempts to usurp higher-ups and bringing troublesome chaos to the locker-room during a season that was set to be dysfunctional anyway because of a global freakin’ pandemic.

At the very least, Mason is an upgrade over Steele.

Just prepare for so much more than the very least.
