According to Pete Thamel on Twitter, Auburn football’s recent hire Tracy Rocker will be leaving the Plains for the bright lights of the NFL:
After becoming the third coach to be hired away from South Carolina by Auburn football HC Bryan Harsin, Tracy Rocker is apparently ready to move on yet again, making it his third job in just three weeks.
Rocker was set to coach Auburn’s defensive line, making his return to the program after a brief, one-year stint that happened to include the Tigers’ only 21st century National Championship in 2010. He was the eighth assistant hired by Bryan Harsin and maintains an impressive coaching resume–despite some humorously quick stops in recent history.
Needless to say, Tiger fans were not too happy to see the Auburn alumnus changing teams yet again, especially after the roller coaster ride of a coaching search we’ve been on lately:
While it may be hard to make excuses for a guy who seemed excited to be coming home to his alma mater, college football and everything it entails is not everyone’s cup of tea. Auburn football needs a defensive coach that will recruit to the level necessary to compete in the SEC.
Fly War Eagle wishes Coach Rocker well, and hopes that this is a move that is ultimately beneficial to Auburn football.
