After a tough Spring 2020, the Auburn football program is back on track in Spring 2021 with workouts and practices that will culminate in the A-Day game, usually played in April.
Per Nathan King, winter workouts began on January 25th, led by new strength and conditioning coach Jeff Pitman.
Pitman spent the last eight years (2014-20) at Boise State under Coach Harsin, and prior to that in 2013 was at Arkansas State. 247sports.com reports that Auburn football players will train eight hours a week under Pitman.
Per AuburnTigers.com, Harsin praises Pitman’s ability to develop players as both athletes and men:
"He has been an instrumental part of many championship teams and players he has worked with leave their time with him praising Coach Pitman for developing them as football players and menWe know his approach in the weight room and other performance areas will make our players better all-around, especially as he specializes with our men up front on the offensive and defensive lines."
Auburn football, like most programs, will be excited to see the practice field this spring after COVID-19 prevented spring training in 2020. The Tigers didn’t get to return to the Plains until June 1.
According to 247sports, Harsin plans to keep a timeline similar to Gus Malzahn’s of last year, when practice would have started on March 16 before the SEC canceled spring practices for all conference schools.
Unfortunately, Coach Harsin’s attention will be divided for now as he looks to finalize his coaching staff after Tracy Rocker’s departure and finish up the 2021 recruiting class.
Auburn football HC Bryan Harsin has a lot of work to do going into the spring, but the man seems up to the challenge. He has the right mindset and a powerful vision, and we at Fly War Eagle look forward to seeing some spring football this year.
