In a game that was close all the way to the fourth quarter, the Auburn Tigers women’s basketball team fell to No. 8 Texas A&M, but stats shot up for Unique Thompson.

Before halftime, the senior member of the women’s basketball team racked up four rebounds, giving her a career high of 1048 rebounds and moving her into second place all-time at Auburn.

Thompson moves past Auburn legend DeWanna Bonner, who played with the Tigers from 2005-2009. Bonner started all 126 games she played at Auburn, and became the first Auburn player to lead the SEC in scoring (2008-09).

An Alabama native, DeWanna Bonner went on to be the fifth overall pick in the WNBA Draft in 2009 and find her new team with the Phoenix Mercury. Just last year she was traded to the Connecticut Sun after picking up two WNBA championship titles with the Mercury.

Unique Thompson has carved out her own legacy with Auburn women’s basketball after breaking two of Bonner’s records–rebounding and double-doubles with a whopping 52 in her career. Thompson is currently No. 1 in the country in rebounding, averaging 14.2 per game.

Oh yeah, and she just hit her first career three:

At the conclusion of the game, Unique Thompson had seven rebounds, which puts her career total at 1051. The school’s all time record is 1118, held by Becky Jackson, who played at Auburn from 1980-84.

Despite the loss to Texas A&M, it was a historical game for Thompson. The Tigers held their ground all the way to the fourth quarter, when the No. 8 Aggies began to pull away. Six of Auburn’s next seven games will be against Top 25 ranked opponents, a grueling part of their schedule.

The Auburn Plainsman reported Coach Williams-Flournoy’s words on the upcoming stretch:

"“It’s a tough stretch, but it’s the SEC,” Williams-Flournoy said. “I mean, there’s a reason you’re playing in one of the toughest conferences in the country.”"

Auburn women’s basketball will face No. 19 Arkansas in Fayetteville on January 31 at 2pm, and Unique Thompson will continue to add impressive numbers to her stats.
