Auburn basketball is on a slippery slope as of late, skidding down a three-game losing streak as they head to Nashville to take on Vanderbilt. But if a three-game losing streak sounds bad, wait until you hear Auburn’s record against Vanderbilt on the road:

Yikes! We love that encouraging note from Bruce Pearl! The head coach also noted that he’d be reminding the players of this record as well, hopefully motivating them to get a conference win tonight.

However, being reminded of those ten losses was not exactly motivating to the Auburn Twitter community. For others, it frankly came as a shock.

The Tigers go into the game with a conference record of 4-7, while the Commodores are 1-7 in SEC play. AuburnTigers.com reports that Coach Pearl’s strategy going in is to hold Vanderbilt below 75 points:

"“They’re 4-1 when they score 75 points or more,” he said. “They’re 1-8 when they’re held under 75 points. And teams are scoring 76 against us. So 75 is kind of a magic number. How can we get there?”"

If the Auburn basketball team can pull off a win against Vanderbilt tonight at Memorial Gymnasium, it will be the first time the team has achieved back to back wins against Vanderbilt since the 1985-86 season.

The game is set to tip off from Nashville at 7:30 pm tonight, and it will be interesting to see how the Tigers perform coming off of their heartbreaker loss in OT to Ole Miss on Saturday.
