Auburn basketball fans are suffering from one of the most trying seasons any fanbase has possibly ever had to go through.

After self-imposing a postseason ban and missing out on the first 11 games of Sharife Cooper’s potentially short-lived college career, Auburn has dealt with a scary injury to Justin Powell that has kept him out of every single game Cooper has been eligible for.

Now, on top of knowing that Tiger fans are missing out on seeing what their backcourt would have looked like with a clean bill of health and a lack of shenanigans on the part of the NCAA, there’s this nugget dropped by NBA G-League Ignite headliner Jalen Green:

Jalen Green would have chosen Auburn basketball if the G-League Ignite team was not created.

That stings.

With so much going wrong this season, knowing it took a special select team designed to breed the next stars of the NBA together to keep Green away from the Plains is downright depressing. With Green in tow, a backcourt with Cooper would have stolen the shine away from Baylor’s guard duo of Jared Butler and Tiger transfer Davion Mitchell.

Justin Powell and Jamal Johnson would have been the team’s backup backcourt, and Bruce Pearl would have had a Final Four contender ready to carry the torch that the teams of the last few seasons have been igniting the flame for.

Instead, the team has won as many games as it has lost and enters tonight’s game against Vanderbilt as a shaky favorite after losing ugly games to Ole Miss and Georgia following a blowout at the hands of the #2 team in the country.

Fly War Eagle will be cheering for guys that actually did choose Auburn, Bryce Brown and Jared Harper, and the Westchester Knicks in the G-League bubble!

Next. Sharife Cooper projected to go to the Knicks. dark
